AOC H – Power Plant

|
|
AOC H is an abandoned building that operated as a power plant from 1941 to
1943. The building is thought to have formerly stored power generation
equipment, and housed large diesel generators to provide electricity. Associated
aboveground fuel storage tanks (ASTs) were located on the western side of the
building, and had an estimated capacity of 2,000 to 3,000 gallons.
From the 1960s to the 1980s, the building was used for fire-training
operations by igniting diesel fuel over rubber tires inside the building to
simulate a structure fire.
A Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study is underway for AOC H.
